Women

Sewing the Seeds of Hope

Sewing machines and tailoring classes give village women a trade and an income.

India Foundation has bought more than 40 sewing machines to teach tailoring to school children and women in our first adopted village and in nearby rural villages. A teacher was hired to run the classes.

After training, students make school uniforms and stitch school bags for our adopted-village projects. The skill becomes a source of income for them.

The program has since grown to 13 more villages, where poor women learn tailoring. We are working to create jobs for women in these villages.
