About India Foundation

Ending poverty in India through education.

India Foundation for Children Education and Care, Inc. is a nonprofit founded in 2006 in the USA by a group of Indian-Americans who believe education can transform India socially and economically.

Our vision

A society where poor, deprived and underprivileged children have opportunities to improve their status and lead a life full of hope and dignity.

Our mission

To eliminate poverty in India through the education of underprivileged children, and to raise the standard of living of poor women through empowerment.

Why education

Education is one of the most important drivers of India’s social and economic development. Higher literacy leads to greater economic output, more jobs, better health, stronger communities and higher standards of living. Educating girls and women in particular brings rapid improvements in family planning, nutrition, health and income.

How we work

We partner with local voluntary organizations working toward total literacy in India, and fund their work in rural areas and remote tribal communities where it is needed most.

We have adopted three villages in Rajasthan, each with more than 200 children in school, with a goal of 100% literacy. To empower women, we opened sewing centers in 13 more villages and hired vocational teachers to teach tailoring.
